Don Day
President of Tec-Ease and Daytec
GD&T Professional, Technical Coach, and Entrepreneur

As an Engineer:  Don Day began his industrial career, which spans over 30 years, as a Designer and Development Engineer for Eastman Kodak Company. He personally has had the responsibility of designing molded plastic, sand and die cast, machined, stamped and powdered metal parts.

As a Professor:  While at Monroe Community College (MCC) in Rochester, NY Don was Chair of the Integrated Manufacturing Technologies department.  A successful designer, engineer, industrial coach, and trainer, he has received awards for his design activities and holds three patents jointly with Eastman Kodak Company.  Don was the 1980 recipient of MCC's Distinguished Professor Award. In 1993 he received certification from Motorola University in several Six Sigma concepts.

As a Senior GD&T Professional: Don is an active member of four ASME Standards Committees: Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), GD&T Certification, Engineering Drawings (Main Committee) and Chair of the Castings, Forgings and Molded Parts Committee.

As a Technical Coach:  By employing his knowledge of DFA, DFM, Six Sigma and GD&T, he has helped companies, through design previews, reduce their design cycle time by up to 50%, while creating a robust design. Don brings the real world into the seminar by frequently presenting actual examples of design and production problems.  His presentations are a mixture of modern concepts, humor, and uncommon sense.

As an Entrepreneur: Don began coaching under the name of Daytec in 1986 while still teaching at MCC.  As Daytec grew and the need for more trainers, teaching materials, and software grew, Don founded Tec-Ease, Inc with his daughter, Wendy.  Today Tec-Ease, Inc has six trainers, has developed software packages (Standard-Ease, Glossar-Ease, and ISO-Ease), several text books, and travels the world to bring GD&T training right to the plant.

His latest project - The GeoTol Personal Trainer was a combined project with Al Neumann of Technical Consultants and Wendy Patterson of Tec-Ease.   The GeoTol Personal Trainer is a computer based training course that doesn’t feel like one.  The GeoTol Personal Trainer will help you to develop a working knowledge in GD&T in an easy to understand and humorous format.   Learn More about this great computer based training program for GD&T.

The entrepreneur bug bit Don again in 2001 when he purchased Inter-Mec Systems Manufacturing, Inc.  Inter-Mec manufactures a combination clutch and brake that is air actuated and air cooled. This air clutch brake is for general industrial applications, including conveyors, case packers, and packaging machinery.
